Nostalgia
A scroll of the traditional Chinese style pictures the day and night in the ancient Chinese landscape. A poet writes down a poem on the scroll to express his affection towards hometown as a person who doesn't know when he could go home. After viewing the scenery changes on the scroll, the scroll can be used to make a wish. The lanterns on the scroll carry the wishes high up to sky as pray messages to the gods and goddesses living there.
On the left bottom of each scenery picture, there is a traditional Chinese character displaying the number. From the left to the right, each character means "one", "two" and "three". Using the Unity app to capture one scenery picture, the audience can see a virtual button on top of the character. Then they can press this virtual button to trigger more animations.
This is a day of a imagned village in ancient China. People live with nature, boating on the lake and resting in the mountains. Life is tranquil and peaceful. The visual elements are based on the style of Chinese landscape painting styles with emptiness for space of imagination by viewers themselves. Besides the living environment and the visual style, the element of Kongming lanterns is used from a tradition for expressing wishes towards the good future. By letting those digital Kongming lanterns carry people's wishes to the high, the audience allows the hopes to continue with the traditional beliefs through the flying lanterns.
